Introducing HHCRO electric storage heater leads
Holmes Media now offers leads for the installation of replacement electric storage heaters. This comes under the Home Heating Cost Reduction Obligation (HHCRO) and aims to provide support for fuel poor households who get their heat from electric storage heaters.
What is HHCRO?
HHCRO is a part of the government’s Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme. Under this part of the scheme, the big 6 energy companies finance grants for insulation and heating improvements, including electric storage heaters, to qualifying households in a bid to help them reduce their heating costs.
Which households are eligible?
HHCRO focuses on vulnerable and low income households who are in receipt of certain benefits. The criteria of eligible households is changing and you can read more about this update in our article on ECO 2017 and what it means for installers.
What qualifications do I need to carry out these jobs?
In the Energy Company Obligation (ECO2) Electric Storage Heater (ESH) Assessment
Checklist, Ofgem state that ‘The assessment and the repair/replacement of a QESH must be carried out by a person with appropriate skill and experience (the ‘operative’). Appropriate skill and experience can be demonstrated by the operative meeting the competency requirements for domestic electrical installation work listed in the measure specific requirements for electric storage heaters in Annex D1 of PAS 2030:2014.’ You can read the full document here.
